Passion for Planting @ Exponential East 2018

Our Passion for Planting team is super-excited about our Church Planting pre-conference and workshops at Exponential East on February 26 through March 1, 2018 in sunny Orlando, FL.  Thanks Exponential team for moving East up to February so we can escape the cold weather!

Passion for Planting is taking a fresh new approach for our Church Planting pre-conference.  We’ll be offering a high-energy learning lab on Monday and Tuesday that features church planting experts presenting a series of 6 fast-paced, TED-style talks.  Ralph Moore, author of New to Five, kicks off this pre-conference setting the stage for church multiplication thinking from launch.

After Ralph sets the stage, with “New to Five Thinking” we’ll then jump into the following TED-style talks essential to church planting followed by a panel discussion on 3-4 related burning issues (key takeaways).  We’ll then wrap up with audience Q&A with our expert panelists.

  • “Essential Preparation Steps for Planting” with Sean Cronin
  • “Planning and Strategies for Staying Focused on People” with Dale Spaulding
  • “Fundraising and Generosity” with Phil Ling
  • “Why Every Church Planting Leader Needs a Coach” with Shawn Lovejoy
  • “Preaching in the Formative Years of a Church Plant” with Brett Andrews
  • “Church Planting Impact on You and Your Family” with Dave and Anne Milam

Oh, by the way, we’ll be offering some sweet giveaways throughout the pre-conference.

Ok, now let’s talk Passion for Planting workshops at Exponential East.  Here’s a list of our practical nuts and bolts type workshops that provide real-world, practical and actionable solutions to areas critical to the pre-launch period.  You may have heard it said that many issues that arise in the early years of a new church plant can be directly linked to mistakes made during pre-launch.

Here’s the topics we’ll be covering during our Passion for Planting workshops offered in the Church Planting Track of the conference.

“Nuts and Bolts Proverbs for Planting” with Brett Andrews

Some seminars offer innovations hot out of the oven.  Others deliver fresh research from the smartest people on the planet.  We don’t.  We have collected a panel of stumblers and bumblers with PhD’s in “learning the hard way” from the School of Hard Knocks.  For one hour, we will share a boat-load of practical proverbs tested and proven in the fires decades of church planting and dozens of new churches.  Our goal: 5 years from now, you will still be using at least one proverb from our time together.

“Building Momentum in the New Church (Getting Butts in Seats)” with Pat Furgerson

One of the key challenges for the church planter is building momentum — yes, getting butts in seats. During this workshop, we’ll explore principles and proven methods to address this challenge. We’ll address questions such as: Does a direct mail campaign still work? Can’t we just accomplish the same goals with social media? How important is a clear vision, mission, and core values? How do you move people from a community service event to a church service? How do you get your brand recognized by the community? What kind of safe, non-churchy gatherings can you host to connect with non-Christians? Please join us for this interactive workshop to explore the common tensions associated with getting butts in seats.

“Raising Money While Building Your Launch Team” by Phil Ling

You need to raise money and have a strong launch team in order to plant a healthy church. During this session, we’ll discuss ways to do both simultaneously without losing your mind! God called you to lead the new church, but he doesn’t expect you to do it alone and he certainly doesn’t expect you to do this with your checkbook. As an experienced church planter and fundraising coach, Phil Ling offers effective, tried and true, practical tools to help you raise funds and build an amazing launch team.

“Where to Start: Building a Launch Plan for the New Church” with Dale Spaulding

The Launch Plan for a church plant is a clear and concise narrative that answers a number of basic questions including: Why you are planting? Whom you are trying to reach? Where will the church be located? Who will do it with you? How much it will cost? How will it be funded? What kind of church it will be? How you will gather a core group? What are the critical success factors? This Launch Planning workshop will walk you through the Six Steps of Planning that will result in a compelling Launch Plan for the new church.
