Director John Poitevent talked with Mingo Palacios, Pastor of Evangelism and Culture at Saddleback Church. Drawing from his experience with young adults, “micro sites” and creative worship, Mingo shared his thoughts on the future of the church and how “sanctified disruption” might be the key to unleashing the potential of a generation.

Currently on the Purpose Driven Church tour, Mingo shared some key learnings from leaders who have played a significant role in his ministry calling and success.

“Input and influence are two very different things.”
The churches that are connecting with millennials right now are taking risks and allowing them to influence the the direction of the church.

“Create a platform where they can pursue their own dreams for building the kingdom.”
Giving millennials a “trusted disruptive” environment to go after their God inspired ideas is a win, regardless of the outcome.

“Don’t be afraid to engage.”
Millennials aren’t looking for you to solve their problems, but they do want to know that you identify with the challenges they are facing.

Check out the full conversation below! Mingo will be one of our featured speakers at Innovate:NOW! – Generation Next on June 8th, 2017. Join us at our headquarters in Dallas for a day of learning from church leaders and experts on how to better reach the next gen. Through our guided innovation process, we will help you evaluate your current model, explore new ideas, collaborate with other churches and discover the best next steps for your church.

Church leaders from around the country gained valuable insight from stewardship experts and learned from the real-life experiences of pastors who have seen breakthroughs in giving.

We received so much great feedback from Chris Willard’s opening talk on Creating a Culture of Radical Generosity that we wanted to share it here on the blog. In order for anything to be a consistently modeled value, rather than just an aspiration, it must first become an unavoidable part of the culture. In this power packed 30 minute talk, Willard shares 7 big ideas with practical steps for igniting a culture of radical generosity.

Chris Willard is the director of Leadership Network’s Generous Churches HUB, focused on helping churches experience a breakthrough in generosity, stewardship and giving. Through our proven process of evaluation, learning and collaboration your team will develop a strategic plan for creating a contagious generosity culture in your church. Previous participants have seen dramatic results including an increase in per capita giving and number of giving units.
